Eklektik Session 2013 – the second edition schedule
The second edition of the Eklektik Session 2013 involves events prepared together by the New Horizons Cinema and Mleczarnia Club/Café. Eivind Aarset & Jan Bang duet will open the evening with a Polish premiere of "Dream Logic" - the Norwegian guitarist's latest album released in November by the ECM. "Lost Highway", the performance of a concert inspired by the soundtrack from the "Lost Highway", a movie directed by David Lynch, will constitute the pretext for the meeting of artists from different stylistics and cultures on one stage. Eivind Aarset, Jan Bang, as well as the musicians from Austria, Switzerland and the USA accompanied by the artists representing the creative environment of Wrocław, will participate in this unique project. Roli Mosimann (famous for his cooperation with Faith No More, Björk, Jojo Mayer, and The Young Gods) will cater for the sound of the concert, whereas the vibraphonist Miłosz Rutkowski will take care of the lounge zone's climate in the foyer. The second edition of the Eklektik Session 2013 will be crowned in Mleczarnia by the premiere of HANG EM HIGH trio's album. A few days later Bond, Alfred Vogel and Lucien Dubuis will present their record during the International Jazz Fair Jazzahead. Then they will head to the USA for a concert tour.

The Eklektik Session 2013 - the first edition schedule
Eklektik Session 03.02.2013
HANG EM HIGH | "THE NIGHT" TRIBUTE TO MORPHINE
Impart 17 Mazowiecka Street, Wrocław
19:00 [auditorium]
This extraordinary enterprise is carried out for the purpose of consolidation of artists representing different musical environments from many countries. But, above all, its main aim is to pay tribute to one of the most original bands in history.
The sound of Morphine is an exceptional combination of blues and jazz in simple rock instrumentations. It is defined as "low-rock" or, by the musicians themselves, "fuck-rock". The band was founded in 1989 in the suburbs of Boston. Its activity was suspended in 1999 after the tragic death of its leader. Mark Sandman died of heart attack during the Morphine's performance on the Nel Nome Del Rock festival in Palestrina, Italy. The band consisting of three people was based on a unique combination of a two-string bass, a baritone saxophone and the drums. During its activity, which lasted for ten years, Morphine released five albums and was ceaselessly giving concerts, thus becoming a cult band for the fans all over the world.
"The Night" is the last Morphine's album, released one year after Mark Sandman's death. It had been completed just before the tragedy. The bassist Radek 'Bond' Bednarz is an initiator of "The Night - tribute to Morphine". During the Eklektik Session in Impart, together with the musicians from Wrocław and the guests from the USA, Austria and Switzerland, an extraordinary set of compositions from all of the Morphine's albums will be presented.
