PUNKT EKLEKTIK SESSION is an initiative of artists connected with the Eklektik Session platform of Wrocław. Ranging from spring to autumn edition, the Polish-Norwegian project connects assumptions of the innovative PUNKT festival with an integrative character of the Eklektik Session series. 

PUNKT is a festival that takes place in Norwegian Kristiansand under the command of Jan Bang and Erik Honoré.  The concept of the festival is based on the performing concerts on the main stage and their direct live remixing by famous musicians, producers and remixers.  The festival has been organized since 2005. It presented such artists as Jon Hassell, Nils Petter Molvaer, Biosphere, Sidsel Endresen and Supersilent.  Later on Maja Ratkje and Eivind Aarset, among others, appeared on the stage.  Among the many notable artists connected with the PUNKT festival are:  Brian Eno, David Sylvian, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, or Berlin electronics’ pioneers of the last decade Vladislav Delay and Moritz Von Oswald.  The festival has been repeatedly invited abroad for the past few years. As a result, it has developed the possibilities of collaboration of artists from different parts of Europe and the world.  During the last years it took place in London, Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Barcelona and Tallinn. EKLEKTIK SESSION is a cycle of individual events in the all year long festival’s formula. As part of the festival the international collaborations and the music plenty of Wrocław are presented.  Promotion, integration of the creative environment, cultural communion and enabling the dialogue between artists representing different kinds of art are the goals of the Eklektik Session platform. Nils Petter Molvær, Moritz von Oswald, Pierre Jodlowski, Eivind Aarset, Jan Bang, among others, have performed so far in collaboration with Polish artists as part of the Eklektik Session in Wrocław, in projects such as: „Lost Highway”, inspired by the soundtrack of David Lynch’s movie, experimental „Eklektik Barbarians”, as part of Musica Electronica Nova festival and „The Night” – a concert paying tribute to a cult band Morphine.

Punkt Eklektik Session

The project is co-financed from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 funds, the national budget and the Wrocław Commune budget as part of the Program "Promotion of Diversity in Culture and Arts within European Cultural Heritage" within EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 and carried out from 01.01.2014 to 30.04.2015.

The "Punkt Eklektik Session" project is a presentation and interaction of two musical artistic platforms. The idea of the project is to connect the PUNKT festival's innovative character
 with an integral character of the Eklektik Community from Wrocław. Intercultural integration and the development of artistic environment are the goals of the connection.

Activities:

  1. study workshops on the road (20.01.2014 -23.02.2014/July-August 2014)
  2. the spring edition of the PUNKT Eklektik Festival -W. Lutosławski's music (7-9th March 2014)
  3. the autumn edition of the PUNKT Eklektik Festival - movie soundtracks (November 2014)
  4. the joint concert tour of Polish and Norwegian artists - 5 concerts in 5 Polish cities (November 2014)
  5. the promotional visit of the the Punkt Eklektik Session on the Punkt Festival in Kristiansand, Norway (September 2014)

The main objective: strengthening of the dialogue between artists from Poland and Norway by the means of promotion and integration of a broadly defined artistic environments from the city of Wrocław and the Punkt festival.

Specific objectives:

  1. presentation of an innovative Punkt festival in Poland,
  2. strengthening of the partnership between Eklektik Session and Punkt Festival,
  3.  presentation of Polish and Norwegian artists' body of work
  4. education through meetings with artists and curators, workshops and seminars
  5. co-operative work on the project, exchange of experiences, cultural education of the project participants.

Project partner:

Stiftelsen Punkt - a non-governmental organization from the culture sector - Kristiansand/Norway, Punkt Festival's organizer.

Project financing:

Co-financing from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 and the national budget - 1 048 630, 00 PLN.

Wrocław Commune's own contribution - 150 000, 00 PLN.

Eklektik Community, for the benefit of intercultural integration and the development of artistic environments from Wrocław, supported the preparation of an application form. During the project implementation the Community will be supporting the artists' recruitment to the Eklektik Ensemble and Eklektik Orchestra by making Wrocław artists' base accessible and sharing the experience related to the artistic cooperation of the creative environment from Wrocław.
